DEEP SEA REEF & WRECK FISHING
(YEAR-ROUND)
Deep sea (or offshore) fishing trips in the Gulf of Mexico are some of the most exciting adventures offered by Another Keeper Charters. With a list of species as varied as the anglers that pursue them, there is never a shortage of excitement.
The goal of a deep sea trip is constant action on big gamefish. You will have several targets to choose from based on your desires, such as catching the biggest, strongest sportfish possible in the largest numbers (Capt. Tom has a history of having clients too tired to catch any more fish and refusing to pick up rods with hooked fish!), filling the fish box with the finest eating fish found in these waters (namely Grouper, Snapper, Cobia, and Triple tail), or just keeping the whole family busy with as much fish catching pleasure as anyone can handle. It is all available in the fertile waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
With over 20 years of saltwater fishing experience focusing on fishing the waters of the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico, Capt. Tom has amassed a knowledge of Offshore fishing that is virtually unmatched by any other charter service in the area. His personal philosophy on fishing offshore is to "Not only find a better where, but know a better how". He relies not only on his catalog of thousands of private deepwater fishing locations, but also techniques and tricks learned from the best in the business around the state as well as years of fishing experience throughout Florida waters to hone these skills.

Capt. Tom understands what it takes to catch fish in the Gulf of Mexico and this often involves a run to deep water. For this reason he chooses not to offer shorter trips than 8 hour on deep sea excursions. If you are looking for a shorter trip, please see our Near-shore Fishing Trips page.
Other species encountered on these trips include huge Barracuda, Amberjack, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Scamp Grouper, Mangrove, Mutton, Red, and Yellowtail Snapper, Bonito, the occasional Blackfin Tuna, and just about any other predatory species found in the Gulf.
TACKLE AND TECHNIQUES:
(Light Tackle; Live and Artificial Bait)
Generally lighter tackle from 10-15lb spinning gear is used for smaller reef species, but expect to tangle with many larger fish that require tackle up to 80-100lb class (both spinning and conventional) when appropriate. A good mixture of various live, dead, and artificial baits are always on board.
