INSHORE NIGHT FISHING
(YEAR-ROUND)

Night fishing offers an experience that is absolutely second-to-none. Whether you want to fish for Snook under the myriad of dock lights dotting Charlotte Harbor, or live-bait Tarpon with the glint of the moon and stars on the water, you'll find what you're looking for after sundown.

Some of the largest Snook ever seen in Florida have be caught at night. Its widely accepted that if the Snook fishing is good during the day, it will be absolutely incredible at night. These fish often use the cloak of darkness to ambush prey as it swims or drifts by. Often huge concentrations of Snook, literally "stacked up," will be found under some dock lights. These fish are very often suckers for small artificials and flies.

Darkness also often increases the Tarpon's willingness to feed. They can sometimes even be heard "slurping" baits from the surface far out of sight. Nothing gets the blood pumping faster than hearing schools of feeding Tarpon all around you. To add to this, the temperatures are often much more enjoyable after sundown, especially during the peak Tarpon season.

The backdrop of the clear South Florida night sky is the perfect backdrop for you next fishing adventure.

TACKLE AND TECHNIQUES:
(Light Tackle; Live and Artificial Bait)

During an inshore night trip you can expect to use light tackle spinning gear with 10-30lb braided line for Snook, and Medium to heavy spinning tackle (depending on the size of the fish present) with 50-65lb braided line for Tarpon. Tarpon are primarily caught using live Threadfins, Mullet, crabs, Whitebait, Ladyfish, and even fresh cut baits at times. Snook are targeted with both live and artificial baits at night. The concentrations of Snook found under some dock lights are a perfect chance to target Snook on fly. (We currently do not supply fly tackle, however we can advise you on what tackle and flies you should bring if you choose to fly fish on these trips.)
