OFF-SEASON & "BABY" TARPON FISHING

Southwest Florida is well known for its spring run of giant Tarpon the likes of the Boca Grande Pass schools. Few realize Charlotte Harbor is home to some of the best off-season and "baby" Tarpon fishing to be found. Don't be fooled by the term "baby" Tarpon, as these fish reach weights of up to 60lbs and are often more acrobatic than the larger specimens.
Few people put forth the effort required to locate, target, and keep track of these fish, but it is well worth the effort. In fact, this fishery can be one of the most reliable and rewarding fisheries in South Florida.
Catching these Tarpon on ultra-light tackle in the salt creeks and brackish river mouths will surely satisfy even the most discriminating anglers. When they are feeding and the right techniques are dialed in these fish can be caught in numbers thought to be impossible in any other Tarpon fishery.
Tarpon of this size are within the grasp of anglers of all ages and skill levels. This is a great family experience, the perfect chance to hone your light tackle skills during a quiet day on the water away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland, or even the perfect way to spend some time fishing with that special someone.
As a bonus Snook and Redfish will often make an appearance during these excursions, as well as the stray Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish.
This trip is usualy begins with a longer, relaxing run through the scenic waterfront of beautiful Charlotte Harbor to reach these more remote fishing grounds.
