TOURNAMENT FISHING
(YEAR-ROUND)
Tournament angling is widely considered the pinnacle of sport fishing. Tournaments of all types are held throughout the year in varying formats, and with a myriad of target species. Tournament fishing can be one of the most rewarding experiences you can have on the water. It is basic human nature to compete with one another, and what better arena than fishing! The prize pools for tournaments in the Southwest Florida area range from tackle, gift certificates, and commemorative trophies, to boats, motors, trailers, thousands in cash, and even entry into even larger tournaments throughout the country.
Preparing for a tournament that very often has large sums of money, and even fully rigged boats as prizes can be a daunting task. The stress of the days and weeks leading up to the tournament can be such that very often people let their nerves get the best of them on tournament day. It is common for the anglers who are consistently making the right decisions, and appearing on the podium more often, to be those most at ease with the whole tournament process.
Take the stress of servicing and lining dozens of rods, preparing and organizing hundreds of artificial baits, launching and fueling your boat, catching live bait, and locating fish out of the equation and add the local knowledge and input of a full time guide who spends 250-300 days a year on the water and you certainly have a recipe for tournament success.
TACKLE AND TECHNIQUES:
Dictated by Tournament rules.
Captain Tom will familiarize himself with the specific tackle requirements of the tournament you are participating in, as well as get input from you regarding your personal preferences. You can rest assured that you will arrive at the boat and find a full assortment of tournament level equipment set up to meet all tournament specifications. If live bait is allowed all livewells will be fully stocked. For live release tournaments you will be glad you chose Captain Tom's boat and it's three huge release wells to get your catch back to the weigh station in perfect shape. You are welcome to use our tackle, your own, or any combination you feel is appropriate.
