I.G.F.A. WORLD RECORD FISHING
To the average angler, a World Record catch seems completely out of reach. This is a common misconception that leads to many missed opportunities. With a little research, proper preparation, angling skill, and determination you could become an official World Record holder.
World record trips need to be booked in advance to allow time for proper preparation and scouting. Booking your trip starts with a conversation with Captain about your desire to set a world record, particular target species, time of year, and possible line class. If you are unsure about what to target and just want to attempt one or more records, he will have a list of the most likely possibilities for the particular time of year you are planning to book.
Once you have decided on your target species and line classes, he will begin scouting and pre-fishing to set up locations that will give you the highest possibility of success. This step is one that most captains do not take, and can mean the difference between a strike out, and your name in the official IGFA World Record book.
When you arrive for your trip, you will find the finest rods and reels, rigged to IGFA specification and ready for action. You will be briefed on the plans for the day as well as a short session on what you need to do during the fight to make your catch legal. Captain Tom will have already arranged for a certified scale and weigh master to be available should be successfully.
In the event of an officially weighed record fish, the Captain will fill out and submit all necessary paperwork with IGFA (there is a $25-$50 application fee).
Please keep in mind that when targeting World Records we have to be particular about which fish we attempt to catch, as a lot of precious time can be wasted fighting a fish that is the wrong species or too small (or large). For this reason much of this fishing is sight fishing only, and can take some time to lure the predators close enough to the boat. For this reason, we recommend full day charters for World Record attempts. Certain species/line class combinations can require fights in excess of 5-6 hours so please allow some flexibility in your scheduling. There are no charges for additional time spent fighting a fish beyond your booked trip length.
TACKLE AND TECHNIQUES:

Please Contact the Captain if you wish to discuss possible records that are attainable in our location.
